Subject: K1 premix crystals problem


I am busy assembling K1 #1500 which I recently received.
It has been great fun so far (same as when I built my K2) but have =
problems with the pre-mix crystals. Below is a summary of the situation =
so far:

Band 40m    crystal X4 15.000MHz  oscillating but not enough to show on =
my RF DVTM. Yet receiving FB on 40m
Band 30m    crystal X3 18.100MHz  oscillating FB approx. 400mV at J6/4, =
receiving 30m FB.
Band 20m    crystal X2 22.000MHz  not oscillating at all. Not receiving =
on 20m.
Band 17m    crystal X1 26.050MHz  oscillating approx 100mV at J6/4, =
receiving FB on 17m.

I have checked operation of relays K1 and K2; the correct crystals are =
switched for each band.
At U7 I have the correct 39pF caps at C26 & C27.

Is it possible that I have a 'mixed bag' of crystals, varying greatly in =
their activity?
There does not seem to be a correlation between frequency and activity =
of crystals.

I guess that when I finish the rig and fire up the TX the problems will =
show up even more clearly!
I would be grateful for any insights.=20
