This is actually fairly common when using Nylon connectors. Nylon,
which is so prominent
these days for use in banana and other connectors has very poor
characteristics at RF,
and should be avoided if at all possible.
Now if we could afford Teflon connectors, that would be the way to go.
Teflon has super RF
characteristics, even though it would cost a few months pay just for
one connector...
