Bruce,
You don't have to struggle too hard with the bail.
Put the first foot in, then the bail into that foot (now comes the 'magic')
Then use one of the long screws in the kit - use the long screw to
temporarily attach the second foot (yes tighten a nut onto that screw)
Now put the proper length screw into the unused hole in the second foot and
tighten it - then remove the long screw and put the proper length in - done.

I can't take credit for this idea - it comes from Tom Hammond N0SS - get
