Speaking of Dayton: I was daydreaming yesterday about Dayton. This
upcoming Dayton will be my third, and it's gettin' closer by the day. I
drive from SoCal, last time I pulled a trailer and camped in a nearby
campground. The drive is always very fun -- in all, it's just a great
time.
Then I had an idea about the Elecraft booth -- wouldn't it be cool if
Elecraft owners could walk up with their rigs and have one of the Elecraft
techs give it a quick check-over? I don't mean repair, but perhaps maybe
check and align the bandpass, and check the receiver/xmitter section real
quick? Perhaps a critique of the construction as well.
I'd PAY for that kind of feedback and service from "the source."
Somewhere between $30 and $50 seems reasonable -- especially if it meant I
could get a little cert that somehow validated the state of the rig,
initialled by the tech, OR (if there was something wrong with it) a note
on the problem, and some guidance on how to fix it.
I have no idea how long such a checkout would take, but if it were perhaps
about 15 mins, and there would be a bunch of guys wanting to have it done,
maybe it could pay for the airfare of the tech!
Just a thought ... is this something that'd be possible? Is there anyone
else out there that thinks this might be a good idea, 'cept me?
