[Elecraft] Using the KIO2 with PDAs

I've been kicking around the idea of coding one for the wince devices like
the HP Jornada and Ipaq. I don't know if it is still possible, but at one
time you could download the wince embedded toolkit that contained visual
basic for these devices. I wrote some code for CNC calculations and it was
really easy. I also wrote a program that communicated over rs232 with a PIC
chip on a battery charger, again very easy.

I would go that route.

Subject: [Elecraft] Using the KIO2 with PDAs

Thanks for the feedback from my posting last week.

3 of us use Psions, 2 have Zaurus's (Zaurii ?), around 10 Palms and 12
PocketPCs. No doubt many others have PDAs as well.

K0PC has already developed a rather nifty looking K2 control program for the
Palm ( http://www.qsl.net/k0pc )

Although I'm a professional programmer (SAP), the only experience I have of
coding for PDAs is the Psion.
Having had a look around it seems that apps developed in Waba/Java can run
on the Palm, PocketPC and Zaurus without modification.
Users just need to have the WabaVM (free!) installed on whatever device they
own.

If anyone has any experience of Waba then I would appreciate some advice
(please reply direct).

What I want to do is wirelessly (?) control the K2, log QSOs and send CW
(receive via wireless headphones).
I will post to the list when I have a beta version if anyone would like to
help out in testing.

This may seem rather 'nerdy', but with the shack at -3 degrees C, I quite
like the idea of operating from my armchair with a cuppa ( I suppose I could
just put a 30 foot coax extension on the aerial and bring the rig indoors,
but that would be too easy)
