I installed the DSP, replacing a KAF2, and then did the AF gain pot mod. 
  I believe that the pot mod reduced some high-frequency hiss that I 
heard with the DSP.  It wasn't a big problem in the first place, but I 
did notice an improvement.  I myself am very happy with the DSP (I 
should add that I don't operate SSB, so my comments refer to CW only).
