Hi all, 

One of my PCs always toggles the keying line in the RS-232 port when 
initializing the port (either boot-up or running port-using software). This 
puts the rig into transmit. I had a FT-847 once that would go into 
transmit and sometimes not come out, leading to panic when none of 
the buttons seemed to work on the radio. This was a common 
experience of others as well. Once we figured out that it was the PC 
giving the TX signal and nothing wrong with the radio, the problem 
became manageable. My old FT-847 FAQ notes show that sometimes 
the port resets itself after a short time, but sometimes one simply hit the 
TX switch on the rig to restore the rig to RX.
