There is no noticeable difference is you make the spacing between wires
0.5", 1" or 2". Because a folded dipole is a "fat" dipole, the equation
for its length is more like 462/fMHz.
Contrary to popular belief, the folded dipole has only about a 1% wider
bandwidth than a simple dipole (because of its "fatness"). The
disadvantage of a folded dipole (need for a 4:1 balun when feeding this
288-ohm antenna with 75- or 50-ohm coax) makes the simple dipole the
better option.
