[Elecraft] K1 VFO Range

I built mine with 80 khz range. In very narrow bandpass modes (200-250 Hz)
I think it would get VERY touchy tuning if it was in 150 khz configuration.
Just my humble opinion. Nothing much past 70 khz up the CW band
anyway but digital stuff and RTTY. The "Noivice" bands are a moot
reason to build it with 150 khz. due to relaxiation of the code test
requirements. I think soon you will see voice modes in USA down to
100 khz up from low end of band, or like Canada and other
countries: NO sub-bands at all! We will have to "fight" for a CW
sub-band as you can be sure the "no-code" groups will want
the entire band open to voice modes.
73,

Subject: [Elecraft] K1 VFO Range

| My wife was very good to me this Holiday and presented me with a K1 to keep
| my K2 from being lonely when I am not operating. I was curious as to the
| general consenses was or is with K1 owners,on setting VFO Ranges. I am at
| the point of choosing 80kHz or 150kHz.
