I must say it is a truly elegant solution and it works well. =20

I was able to cut the slot with a pair of flush cutting diagonal
cutters and a hemostat.  I soldered the two halves of the shell
together along the top seam to make them more rigid after I made the
slot.  I had a blob of solder after soldering the key but it removed
easily with an exacto knife. =20

I like this solution because the key being on the inner shell protects
the pins from contact even when trying to insert it live.  Also there
are extra positions so different keys can be made for the different
wiring arrangements.
