The KX1 uses so little power that I don't think the complexity, cost, 
and possible noise issues of a switcher are justified.  Why not simply 
find a wall-wart (I have about 30 of them in my junk box) and stick on a 
3-terminal regulator, fixed or adjustable as you like.  Then, as our 
British friends like to say, "Bob's your uncle" at negligible cost.
