Yes, I build one part at a time too.=20
Indeed, here's the sequence I use.
Check the instructions.
Find the part.
Place the part in the holes on the board.=20
Recheck the instructions.=20
Recheck the position of the part (Wow! It's amazing how some of those =
parts
can move from the right holes to the wrong holes all by themselves -
especially late at night!)
Recheck that it is the RIGHT part.
Solder.=20
Check all solder joints.=20
Go to next step.=20
It's not the fastest, but it sure cuts down on the desoldering! I build =
K2
1289 without resoldering a single part - or having a single missed =
solder
joint.=20
The later Elecraft manuals make it clear that either several parts or =
the
one-part-at-a-time approach are FB .

Hello all:
Well, finally received my K2 (SN# 3930) and, slowly but surely, assembly =
is
progressing well. One question though; In the manual the instructions =
say to
insert several components and then solder all of them at once. After
building several other projects I have found that placing one piece and =
then
soldering it seems to work better and stop mistakes. My question, is =
there
any reason for not doing it this way?=20
Thanks for reading this post and I thank all of you for your prior =
answers
and, I am sure, there will be many more to follow. 73 de KC4QNW (Dennie)
