First of all, thanks to those who answered my question.  I'm
pretty well convinced now that the losses are the same,
whether running a single 50 ohm coax or paired coax for 100
ohm line.  I can't help but laugh at myself for
enthusiastically following a 73 article in the 80's that
described what a wonderful multi-band antenna could be made
constructing a "center-fed Zepp" using parallel coax for the
feedline.  Obviously, the same performance could have been
achieved using one run of coax with a balun at the antenna.
I made contacts with the antenna, so I thought I had a
winner!  Being multi-band, I doubt very much whether the
line impedance had any effect, either.  Live and learn!
