Normally a beverage doesn't need a preamp, but run a beverage straight into 
the K2?  No, I wouldn't do that.  An unmatched beverage would be down 
another 10 or so db.  It should have a 9:1 transformer at the feedpoint and 
run CATV coax into the shack.  Then you probably would not need a 
preamp.  I would put a pair of 1N34A's from the beverage feed to ground 
(one pointing each way) to take any RF off the RX antenna.

CATV coax?  Sure .... it's 75 ohm and it's double shield - all the better 
to keep extraneous pickup out.

Flags, pennants and EWE's are probably 30 db down.   I have a remote 
preamp/BC filter for EWE's that I bought from some K2 that was making them 
right after the first EWE article came out in QST.  It brings the RX level 
up to normal.
