I think you mean 'find a place where the impedance is not outrageous', 
because as you know, the SWR is constant wherever you measure it (except 
for a slight decrease nearer the source due to line loss).

Unfortunately, this is complicated by multiband operation, in which 
voltage and current loops are in different places on different bands.

Also, the original discussion was about feeding a ground-mounted 
vertical monopole with balanced feedline, tuned to several bands by an 
ATU at the transmitter.  The reason for using a balanced line was that 
the SWR on at least some bands would be very high, causing excessive 
loss in coax.  Therefore a balanced-to-unbalanced transition of some 
kind is needed at the antenna base, since otherwise the vertical would 
unbalance the line, causing loss due to feedline radiation near the ground.
