I have the Hakko iron (not the de-soldering tool) and find that it makes
"blob-stripping" the enameled wire a breeze by simply bumping the
temperature control up to 800F.
Having messed with Wellers with their separate tips in the past, I was
pleasantly surprised to see how easy it is to change temperatures with
simple twist of the knob on a Hakko. And, since the Hakko irons come up to
full temperature in about 30 seconds from a cold start, they change
temperatures very fast too. It only takes a few seconds. Also, there is no
perceptible "droop" in the tip temperature while the iron is being used to
solder large sized or a large number of joints.
