[Elecraft] KX1 - strange symptom

Last week I noted here that my KX1 had a slight pop in the earphones when keying the first character of a letter.  Today I noticed it only happens with the elecraft paddle and only when the paddle is screwed into the case.  You can hear a slight static like sound in the phones when screwing in the paddle.  It seems the case and the phone jack are at some slightly different potential causing the pop.  I checked sanding of the paint on the case contact points and also checked with an ohm meter bet the case and phone jack.  Also checked to be sure the jack is soldered properly.  Everything seems fine.  I also tried to see if there is any dc differential between the case and jack with both meter and scope to no avail.  With my normal paddle or with the elecraft paddle not screwed into the case all is fine.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this strange situation?
