Well, Rich, the fact that the internal K2 meter and your external meter
agree with each other in CW mode suggests something wrong with the =
external
meter in SSB or "peak reading" mode.=20

If the internal K2 metering circuit was wrong, it'd be wrong in both =
modes.
Nothing is changed inside the K2's metering circuit when switching =
modes, so
if it's wrong, it ought to be wrong all the time.=20

I'd suggest taking a HARD look at that external peak reading meter as a
first step.=20
