[Elecraft] K1 or KX1

I'm new to cw/qrp!  My Rock-Mite40 connects to a NorCal-BLT to a dipole fed with ladder line.  I 
can hear 14 stations at a time, but have never gotten any response to my CQs.  My thinking is 
that a K1/KX1 would allow me to tune more accurately and get to the novice areas where my 8-
wpm stands a better chance of a response.  I'm not a hiker, but would like to take the rig on 
trips so the size is not a critical factor.  Fully loaded the costs are not too far apart.  I'm not sure 
if the additional 17/15 meter is a big plus for the K1.  I'd appreciate your input.  Anyone in the 
Rochester NY area?
