[Elecraft] Low Power Linear Supply Kit

Hi

If you want to roll your own power supply then look in the National IC =
power supply data book for several designs using the LM117 LM337 series =
of three terminal regulators. You really only need a 12 volt transformer =
or AC type wall wart rated at 1.5 to 2 amps, a 2 amp bridge rectifier or =
4 1N5402's, a 2000 uf or so electrolytic cap, the three terminal =
regulator, 2 resistors to set the voltage and a 1-10 uf cap on the =
output. I have built dozens of these and they work well. You could also =
look for a small L-frame power supply at a swap meet. Several companies =
make these like Elpac or Sola. These are usually built around a LM723 IC =
and could be mounted in a small box.=20

  I'm interested in a small *linear* (vs. switcher) supply for use with =
my=20
  KX1.

  Based on KX1 specs, 0.8-1.0 A at 12 to 13.8 V would do.  Operation off =

  120 VAC (vs. 100-240) would be OK because I can use a small =
transformer=20
  for 240 VAC conversion.

  Is anyone aware of a kit on the market for such a supply?

  TIA!

  73, Phil
