Joe,
I note that your serial is 3751.  Serial numbers above 3000 use U8-4 for
sidetone , only older serials use U6-25, so when you press DISPLAY until you
see U8-4 you should hear the sidetone.
I had a similar problem and Gary at Support told me its a sure sign that Q5
(2N7000) is a dud, I changed Q5 and the sidetone sprung into life, hope this

Thanks to all for the tip on getting sidetone from U8 pin 4 rather than U6
pin 25. However I'm not there yet.

I go into Set Tone Level menu and adjust the parameter for 255. I tap
display and U8-4 comes up momentarily then st l 255 reappears. Tap display
again and U6-25 comes up momentarily then st l 255 reappears. These toggle
back and forth. How do I make the rig lock onto U8 for the sidetone? I get
zero AC volts on U8 pin 4. This is K2 #3751.
