Hi Joe,

Sidetone.  All other tests in Part 1 are okay.

on Q5 but I get zero volts at pin1 of U8.  So is U8 and/or Q5 bad?  I'm at a

I had the same problem when assembling and test K2 #3302. The solution is
described in the following extract from an email I post earlier this year. A
change in the K2 was made that fell through the documentation cracks for
some of us who had an unassembled Rev A kit and later purchased the A-to-B
upgrade before starting construction. I hope this helps. 

"NO SIDETONE. I dutifully checked all parts and connections, re-soldered,
signal traced, and so on. Nothing made any difference. What was I missing?
Well, thanks to the list archives I found the information about accessing
the ST L menu, optionally setting a value, and then tapping DISPLAY to force
the rig to get it's sidetone from the correct source (U8, pin 4 instead of
U6, pin 25)."
