[Elecraft] OT: getting shack on network

Vic,

I added a LinkSys wireless router (BEFW11S4) and a WPC55AG PC Card
(supports a, b and g protocols for road use) to this laptop. Wireless
at 11 Mbps meets all my needs, but you may perfer to go to the g
protocol (5x faster or so).

Ended up adding a WSB24 signal booster, too -- but my shack is on the
other side of a detached garage (abt 100 ft from the router and through
3-4 walls -- two of which are lathe and plaster vs. wallboard).

I went LynkSys because that's what the original wire-only router was, so
it made setup easier. Likely other brands are as good or even better.

Note that I replaced a wired LS router; there may be cheaper (add-on)
ways to go. But I was in a hurry since I wanted it for surgery recovery
and the operation was the next day!

In fact the shack was already on my wire LAN; but now I can use the
laptop anywhere on my lot (which is 180 ft deep).

73, Phil
