Sorry, guys, I'm probably boring you with this building-aide stuff, but =
I'm still building and always looking for a safer and easier way. With =
my old eyes, visual aides are a must.
Here's my early Christmas present to myself:
http://home.internetcds.com/~barbados/maglamp1.jpg
http://home.internetcds.com/~barbados/maglamp2.jpg
I bought it from Digikey. It has a 4-1/2" main magnifying lens, a two =
diopter (I think), and a 1" swing-in lens that makes it a four diopter =
within that apature.
The wonderful part about this mag-lamp is that the light supply comes =
from a 100 watt Halogen bulb with a switch for high and low. Most =
mag-lamps I looked at just have a 22 watt florescent bulb, just not =
enough light.
The articulated arm is about 24-28" with a seven pound weighted base.
It is made by Electrix and the model is P226. About US$175.
Using this mag-lamp with a Panavise 324 Electronic Work Center sure =
makes building a K2 a pleasure. You can stand up straight and inspect =
component placement, soldering accuracy and component markings, even the =
tiny little caps.
I can just see after posting this I'll have a problem and you guys will =
direct me to a cold solder joint.sigh.
