The RSGB IOTA contest has both 12 and 24 hour categories, which is a
bit closer to your goal. I put in about 9 hours for the CQWW and am
sure I would have had a much higher score with something approaching 48
hours!
A high score isn't always required. The very first contest I ever
entered (at the tender age of 14) was the 1953 CQWW phone (AM not SSB).
Actually is was just the WW DX Contest, since that was one of the few
years when it was not sponsored by CQ. I operated 15 meters single-
band and don't remember how many contacts I made (it couldn't have been
that many), but I received a nice certificate saying I received first
place for the U.S. 6th District with a grand total of (are you ready
for this?)
***726 points***
There were only three W6 single-band 15m entries that year. I've scored
over 100,000 points in several contests since then and ended up near
the bottom of the pack, but I'll always treasure that certificate
because I may not see another one.
