The latest software has an output for a LED that will indicate
SPLIT/RIT/XIT. The only problem is where to locate the LED. There is a
write-up by N0SS on the Elecraft web page with instructions for drilling
a small hole in the front-panel. Personally, when I get this software
upgrade, I think I will put it in the Rate button. I don't like the
thought of drilling a hole that may not look good afterwards.

BTW, I enjoyed the CQ WW contest myself. I had heard of those people
doing 100 DXCC countries in a weekend, so I set out to see how far I
could get myself. I used the K2 on 5-10-15 Watts and an 80 m horizontal
loop up about 10 m, and I found the conditions to be excellent with 10
and 15 meters open to PT and LU. I was happy ending up with 80 different
DXCC countries on 80-10 meters; new ones for me were ZS, D44TD, DX, V2,
EY, and HP.
