Clive,

There are 2 good choices I know about for increasing the mic gain - one
internal and one external.

External -- There is an article on adding a mic preamp on the Builder's
Resource Page on the Elecraft website www.elecraft.com.  Look under the
"Tech Notes Articles' to find the Builders Resource page.

Internal -- Increased mic gain is one part of the 'Improving the Performance
