[Elecraft] Future elecraft projects

One must be careful about confusing stats with suitability for the task and
overall performance. The K2 has some specs that are numerically superior to
my PRO2, but overall the PRO2 can deal with much more severe QRM and QRN
conditions plus offer semi-infinitely better IF filtering, so overall for
me, the PRO2 is the more desirable radio.

Don't paint me with a black brush, guys - I have a K2 and love it - for what
it does and can do. But, taken realistically, the basic radio needs such
add-ons as the DSP filter, etc. to be really useful in adverse conditions.

To me, the best approach is to use each rig for what it is best: the K2 goes
to the field or on trips. The PRO2 stays in the shack for the heavy hauling
when things get rough.

John has the right idea about Heathkit, though. I had a wall-to-wall "Green
Box Station" and thoroughly enjoyed building and operating it. But, the
complexity of the rigs and the price pressure of the imported radios became
too much to resist.
