[Elecraft] 707 vs 808

Hi

I have used the Pace, Hakko and Weller desoldering stations. The =
Pace has the "large magic marker" type iron and the Weller and Hakko =
have the gun. I prefer the gun type and of them I like the Hakko the =
best. I have not used the 808 so I am not sure how I would like the pump =
mounted in the gun. Those that have a 808 love them. I have an old 706 =
and use it daily. I have no problems using it on densely populated =
boards. The Pace units have a problem with tips freezing in the iron and =
the tips are too small (not enough mass) in my opinion. The Weller units =
I have used needed a shop air supply to work (no pump) and just did not =
have the feel of the Hakko. They all work well I just liked the Hakko =
better. Just like some people like Ford others like Chevy I like my =
Honda S2000

When working in "highly populated component" environments. Do you =
find it
much nicer to use the "pencil" (maybe I should call it a "big =
magic marker")
type desolderer rather than the "gun" that the 808 is?
