At work we have a little jackknife kit of wire probes to
clean out the solder sucker tips. They look like stiff, thin
wires.=20
Hakko has a "cleaning pin" they call out for cleaning the element
and tips. Tequipment may have it somewhere in:

The ones I mentioned look like you could homebrew them out of music
wire - go to your local music shop and ask for bits of electric=20
guitar strings.=20
If you keep the sucker clean as you use it, you won't have to clean out
a big mess all at once.=20
