About the solder pot...
I will agree it is a wretched excess, but I bought
one and it is a truly elegant way of tinning leads.
(but I'm on my 4th K2, already built the fully
dressed K1, 3rd KPA, 2nd KAT-100 etc. ( I wind
my share of toroids)
Look for them on eBay, you can pick them up
for $25.00 and a pound of solder (a bar, not
rosin core :-) will run $9.00.
Keep it in an out of the way location where
the dogs can't pull on the cord and where you
can't get tangled in it or otherwise upset the
thing. To invert a pound of molten metal (430
degrees F) upon one's self, would certainly
encourage one to refrain from similiar acts
in the future.
If I had kids in the house, I would not have one.
I don't regret buying mine at all, but I always
pay it a VERY healthy respect. Safety first.
