That's normal, Perry!=20
The bar-graph works backwards (right to left) on purpose to remind you =
that
you ARE looking at the ALC and not the RF out.=20
Also, for FULL output, you only need ONE bar of ALC to flicker on peaks.
That means that the K2 is "backing down" the output automatically to =
keep it
at the RF power level you've selected.=20
The amount of ALC action depends on three things. 1) The amount of RF =
power
you are requesting with the POWER control, 2) The "gain" of the RF
transmitter stages and 3) The amount of audio your mic provides.=20
The gain of the RF stages varies across the bands, being typically =
lowest on
10 meters. So a good check to see if you adequate audio from your mic is =
to
tune up on 10 meters and try transmitting at full power. IF at least the
first bar of ALC flickers, you have enough audio from the mic to produce
full output on all bands.
On other bands, like 40 meters, you may see several bars of ALC =
flickering,
indicating that the transmitter stages have more gain there and so the =
ALC
has to turn things down a bit more.

into
a ssb net on 160m last nite and everyone that heard me said the audio =
was
great...compression at 2:1 gain at 2 ..and I have tried other =
