Hi all,
My 2c worth on this subject.
For two nights now I have tried Waynes method of 4mhz osc calibration, and I
am blowed if I can get it to work for me.
I can get the readings (in Cal FCtr) reading exactly the same on TP1 and
TP2 , do the CAL PLL and end up about 40hz off.
I can only imagine I am not tuning WWV in properly in the first place, even
though I can switch between LSB and USB and have the pitch of the tones
exactly the same. Being able to "tune in WWV perfectly" without some
reference is beyond me. It sounds fine to me +-100hz either side of
frequency to my tired old ears.
Anyway, I find the Steve GU3MBS method far easier to use and I ended up
using it to get my K2 back to being "close" to perfectly on frequency
again.(Very close in fact)
I guess it is just a case of YMMV......and my "M" did "V".....
