Dear Eddy, Lee, Mike, Jeff, Brendan, Tony, & others.

Thanks for the good advice, and all the good tips like having RG8, 240V,
and deep pockets for the really good amps, Hi Hi.

I found 1st I don't have nearly enough money, and therefore my choices are
an SB220 or a Drake L7.

I found only the Drake L7 & the Titan 425 had separate power supplies. The
Titan seems to have QSK, but I can't afford it. Perhaps I can find a cheap
L7 if I look long & hard enough that I can afford & then convert it to QSK
with a Richard Measures kit.

Thanks for the tips on the Acom, Alpha, etc that are beyond my
reach... They look great!

I already have a pair of 811A's that put out, believe it or not, 450 Watts
PEP, so going to an SB220 is not all that much of a gain, I need to go to
1.5KW if it is a meaningful step up.

Nobody knew of a switching supply, unless you go with a 500W solid state
amp or do home brewing which I'm not going to do.

I'll just mention to you guys that I'm a professional "RF" guy, I run
broadcast & commercial ship to shore transmitters for a living. My biggest
station was KDFC San Francisco 102.1 MHz which was 15.5 KW TPO, followed by
KOIT, KDRV, and a host of 5 KW AM stations. Currently, I'm running 23
transmitters 5 KW ship to shore on short wave. http://www.globewireless.com
It's a real change when you go from commercial to amateur!

God Bless & thanks again for all the input.
