The lines aren't underground here (Ireland) and the BPL trials are starting
soon in a town near here. I hope to making detailed measurements and will
certainly be reporting my findings to the relevant authorities although
Amateurs have little 'clout' politically here and it may not make much
difference :-(
In Europe BPL is a serious potential problem to HF use at allowable
incidental interference levels but is probably uneconomic for the operators
unless the BPL people can get the EU limits raised, even then it is
questionable that BPL will be economic but I imagine many will come up with
'uses' for the new higher limits if the BPL people get them in force.
BPL is being sold to our politicians as the answer to rural broadband but
just like everywhere else the trials are in town, it seems the longest bpl
trial distance I can find covered around 2,000 feet. Is anyone aware of ANY
rural BPL trials anywhere in the world?
Is anyone here involved with interference monitoring or measurement in BPl
trials? If so I would like to hear from you please.
