Last week I wired up the same circuit to use with my Vibroplex bug and a paddle. It appears to work OK when I key the dah-side of the bug like a straight key but as soon as use the dit-side, I occasionally get the iambic pattern. Try cleaning the contacts on your straight key with a good silver polish. I don't think the circuit has adequate debounce for a bug though. Anyone else out there able to get a bug to operate 20+ wpm using the auto-detect feature? The only way I've been able to use my bug is to set the menu for Inp Manual. I can't get it to work in the Inp Pdln or Inp Pdlr modes.
