Hi Neil,
Sorry for the late response, just got back from W4 land after two weeks 
of dodging traffic on the I4 !! There are some serious suicide jockeys 
over there :-))

I believe your problem is related to the BFO settings.  If you get these 
wrong, it produces exactly what you describe.  I had a tx/rx offset of 
around 300 Hz also and spent an age checking everything until I re 
adjusted the BFO settings.  Take a look, I think it will solve your 
problem..
