I had this type of thing happen once before.  It started sending (TX) dahs for no good reason.  I tried to reset...nada.  Nothing would make it stop.  I took the control board out and took the PIC Controller out of the socket and then reseated the controller again.  That seemed to stop it.  Ssince then, I have put in update controller chips.  Has not happened again, but I do not leave it on when I leave the shack.  I wonder if corosion occured between the pins of the controller and the socket..  The environment of my shack is not well regulated.  It really is a shack in the back yard so tempurature controll is not very good.  Just a suggestion
