FW: [Elecraft] Yet another Alignment question

Thanks for the great ideas .

1. Those included working the VCs to get them to seat. - I turned the heck
out of C23... It comes and goes regardless of it position. It is the only
one I have that has this problem and I am inclined to replace it.

2. Check audio with AGC off. - I was going I couldn't discern any difference
in audio output with AGC toggled between on and off, but playing around wit
it at 14300 listening to a SSB QSO I got lots of audio with the AGC off,
when turned back on the audio was cut in half. Later I got the same results
in the CW part of 20M.

Is it normal for the S meter to stop displaying bars when AGC is off? What
do I do next to determine whether or not I have a problem with the AGC
circuit?

3. Explaination of how band pass and low pass filters are for pairs of
bands. I guess the part about always doing the alignment in the set order
blinded me to what is really going on. Makes perfect sense and now I don't
have to labor under such a heavy misconception.

I have seen some improvement in this last alignment, but I want every last
drop of signal I can get.
