"I just listened in on 10 Meters for the 10-10 contest, and noticed I am
picking up spurs in the receiver every 15 KHz. approx. 28.363, 28.378,
28.393 etc. Only on 10 meters. I have a K2 with the KPA100 and KAT 100 in
the separate case. They go away if I disconnect the control line from the
K2. "
Sent the above into the group on Friday, thought I had a problem with the
K2, I should have known better. After more experimenting I finally isolated
the problem of spurs only on 10 Meters. It was the monitor for the computer
in another room of the house. The noise did go way down with the control
cable between the KPA100 and K2 was disconnected, but after playing around I
found it was still there.
Just a quick note on the stability mod. I installed the bfo portion when it
first came out, and about a month ago installed the PLL portion. I have
several times zero beat WWV on 10MHz when I first turn on the K2, then
repeated the zero beat after an hour or so of operating. It is amazing the
drift seems to be only 10 to 20 Hz, which could just be the resolution.
Sure is different then my old days with my Heath VF1 VFO and later my
HW-101.
