Hey Gang,
Finally had a bit of time this afternoon to play around with spectrogram
and my K2. First off I'd like to say thanks to Tom N0SS for writing up a
nice tutorial of aligning the filters with this software. I found it
easy to follow and made complete sense. Now I see why everyone raves
about this program. Very nice indeed for audio filter alignment. I will
say that I had the filters very close before using it, but there were a
couple of settings that needed adjustment. Nice to be able to actually
see a spectral display of the filter's response. BTW I didn't have a
noise generator, so I put together the one from Tom's schematic on the
Elecraft site and it worked great. Just happened to have all the parts
in the junk box.
After aligning the K2, I thought what the heck and realigned the K1 with
spectrogram as well. Worked out quite nicely. I did use another
calibrated rig with TCXO to check everything and it worked out fine.
This little piece of software will come in handy for checking homebrew
filters and checking the audio bandwidth of receivers. Thanks again Tom
for posting all that handy information!
