Hi Dave:

When I use the dah side of the bug as a straight key it works fine. It's the dit side of the bug that occasionally triggers the iambic keyer pattern. I suspect that the auto-detect feature only works ok for speeds less than 20 wpm. I can't reduce the speed on the bug below 20 wpm so I haven't yet tested my assumption. An asymmetry in the diodes could cause one to switch faster than the other and if so might fool the auto-detect feature but that's probably not likely. Perhaps the auto-detect feature was not intended for use with a bug. When I get home I'm going to hook my external keyer to the diode-ANDed side and see if holding the dit paddle triggers the keyer when I reduce the speed below 20 wpm.
