[Elecraft] Frequency Calibration

Y'know, John, I had my frequency counter on the operating desk the other =
day
and decided to run across the Ham bands and see how well the K2's =
frequency
display "tracked" the actual frequency. I was transmitting into a dummy
load, sampling a bit of the RF for the counter through an attenuating
coupler.=20

My K2 and the counter agreed within 20 Hz at spot frequencies across all =
the
Ham bands EXCEPT 10 meters. There I found larger errors - up to about 60 =
Hz
I think it was. Nothing alarming. I was more impressed by the good =
agreement
from 160 to the lower end of 10 meters.

I seem to recall some comments about the algorithm that produces the LCD
display based on the position of the main tuning being less-accurate on =
10.
Or I'm hallucinating again. Either is equally possible. In any case, it
sounds like your K2 and mine are quite similar. If that isn't another
hallucination...

 I don't want to start another long thread on this subject, but I=20
performed an experiment tonight and want to share the results.... I =
hooked=20
my ICOM 706 to a dummy load. The results of my experiment are as =
follows:
80, 40, 30,20,17M: Both radios agree, within about 20 Hz max.
15, 12, and 10M: K2 reads about 80-100 Hz lower than the ICOM.

When I have a CW QSO with a local friend on 10M ...I set my K2 about 80 =
Hz
lower than our agreed-upon frequency, and he was perfectly tuned in. If =
my=20
ICOM is off by 80 Hz, so is my friend's Kenwood, and in the same=20
direction - highly unlikely. The K2 must be the culprit.

Has anybody else noticed this and is it normal??
