[Elecraft] K2 Set-Up for PSK31

Jerry,

Most folks just seem to use the normal SSB settings, but there are other
options that can obtain better results for you. One is to activate the RTTY
filters (it is in the secondary menu - the firmware 2.x instructions tell
you how) - the first advantage in doing so is that the compression can be
set independently of the SSB mode (another menu selection), and it should be
set to 1:1 for best IMD for digital modes. I find it most useful if you set
the RTTY - FL1 position the same as you have set for SSB mode (OP1 filter
and the same BFO settings) because just like for SSB, the K2 uses these
values for transmit.

There are advantages to using narrower filters for receiving PSK31, chiefly
the advantage of a better S/N ratio and rejecting stronger nearby signals
which would cause the AGC to reduce the receiver gain if they were inside
the passband. Julian, G4ILO has posted several times on this technique and
I have not yet tried it, so you will have to search the archives for his
postings for more information.

Although you should have gotten specific setup information with your Rascal
interface, I do have some information which may help you with the physical
connections for PSK31 and other digital modes on my website
www.qsl.net/w3fpr. Look for the article on the Switchbox for Digital Modes.

I got the Rascal interface finished tonite, hooked up to the K2 and
everything seems to be working just fine, except one small minor problem, no
PSK signals. I've checked 80, 40 and 20 and no PSK signals to be found. Oh
well, there is tomorrow.

What is the proper way to set the K2 up for PSK operation. Didn't see
anything in the manual. I swear I've read something about PSK on the
Elecraft webpage but can I find it, heck no.

So what do I need to do to set her up?
