Probably not a lot to be concerned with though - both the K2 and the
internal battery have a protection diode in the path from the point where
the power splits. So the voltage measured at the battery terminals should
be very close to the voltage in the K2 that is seen by the internal meter.
It is just that measuring at the battery terminals is a bit more correct.
You are right on in saying that you must measure it with a fully charged
battery though - that is a must!!! I will try to remember that in any of my
future postings on the subject.

that with a screw driver or soldering iron, heaven help me. According
to the archives, in adjusting the power source for a proper float
charge to the internal battery, one doesn't look for 13.8 VDC on the K2's
display. The proper method is to test and adjust with a fully charged
battery and the PS on, but with the K2 off. The 13.8 voltage should be
read across the terminals with a DVM. This should be done a couple of
times over the course of a day to insure a full charge in the battery...
