If by mountain range you mean narrow width with high peaks, this doesn't 
sound right. Take out the KSB2 and add jumpers to let your K2 work without 
it. Check the filter response in CW mode. If it looks ok, the problem is in 
your KSB2 adapter. If the filter response doesn't look right in CW only 
configuration then some signal tracing or checking for bad joints, wrong 
parts placement, or problems with toroids would be in order.

The filter response might also not look right if you don't have enough band 
noise across to give you a proper graph. This is where a noise generator 
can come in handy.

Yes it does. The K2KSB2XTALS includes the crystals you need to replace 
those of the base CW K2 plus those on the KSB2.
