In My K2 (Ser 1642) I also had a fixed resistor so I added a junk box
trimmer to make the circuit the same as the current 'production' K2
I then adjusted it for the ACG action I preferred, I didn't measure the
voltage so I can't tell you what it was.
Once I finished fiddling I re-calibrated the S-meter using CAL S LO and CAL
S HI. using these settings I can make the S-meter behave pretty much any
way I want so I don't really understand your problem with the S-meter.
you WILL have to redo S-meter calibration if you alter the AGC threshold
adjustment and by playing with the CAL S LO and CAL S HI values you should
be able to set it up pretty much any way you like.
After 'calibration' my S meter broadly agrees with the one on my 756PRO2
however Like many I rarely pay the S-meter any attention and give out
reports based on how it sounds to me at the time.
