Multiple Receivers

With the networking capabilities available as outlined above, one very
interesting configuration might be to support multiple of these
receivers. Having several band scopes running at the same time with
different colored displays would make an ICOM 756 Pro look a little,
shall we say, underpowered. I'm sure there are guys out there with more
funds than I have that would build one for each band and have a wall of
these things to impress their friends! (That would look pretty cool).
I'm not a contester per say (I use contests to test out antenna
configurations) but I'm sure that could be of value. I wonder what the
rules say about a single transmitter with 10 receivers built in?

Tim Taylor Visits Elecraft

Several people have talked about running "more power" on the K2. I have
to admit, I have a 500 watt SGC power cube in my truck that I use in
much the same way as I use the four wheel drive button on the dash. You
don't use it all the time but when conditions warrant it, it is
definitely nice to have. I don't know if I would want a different
amplifier or not but I certainly would like an integrated ATU that could
handle the power. I'm sure there would be a way to prevent damage to
the ATU due to excessive power/SWR combinations.
Misc
There are a few other things that didn't fit anywhere else so I dumped
them here. If the system is going to be run remote via an IP
connection, it would be nice to have a transmit timer that would shut
off the power if something went wrong, like a loss of connection to the
radio.

TCXO: Looks like Elecraft has got this one under control. Mine's on
order.

A replacement front panel for mobile mounting was talked about at one
time but nothing has come of it. (Dayton?) I use an adjustable laptop
table in my truck to mount the K2, a DSP speaker, the screwdriver
antenna controller, and the amplifier remote control (photos upon
request). Having a remote head would probably make that much easier to
run remote.

Dang this got long. That's enough for now.

Feel free to comment!
