Just got a 2003 Passat VW wagon.... and while in the office I spotted a 
solar panel on the desk. So I asked about that COOL thing I could use.

It may be incorrect, but i was told by my un-named salesperson at the VW 
dealer, that EVERY VW  car comes with a solar panel, plugged in, to keep 
the batt up during transport. And very few people want them , or maybe 
those people don't ever hear about them ??? and they are tossed, or just 
disappear.
So I said I would be thrilled If I could get a few .""....  no problem.....
stop back and pick up some , and from time to time I'll get you more..."".

So  stop by the SALES office at your VW dealer....
the parts department will want to sell you one.  I checked Ebay, they are 
all over
the place from 10 bucks up.... just search on "vw solar"

18 vdc 170 ma... with a cigar lighter output:::   As far as a charger for 
the K2,
I haven't looked what happens to the Batt voltage when applying the panel, but
I bet the batt  switch better stay on the ON position....
