I don't know which was the greater honor...
1. Working my first QRP contest with my new K2 (#3241), palm key, and
commercial buddipole...
OR
2. Seeing proof of my contact with W0NTA/7 posted on the web (!) [excellent way
to memorialize your weekend guys! I enjoyed the photos and the results of your
endeavors posted online]
I was operating from "E.C. Hafey Park" in Edmond, OK. Nothing special - just a
picnic table and my portable ham gear. The weather was ideal - clear skies, mid
to upper 70's, slight breeze. Apparently I wasn't the only one with the idea to
hit the park - there were dozens of people around there the whole day. I even
had a few people come up and ask me what I was doing.
I had to move my setup after my first hour to a partially shaded picnic table.
Unfortunately, someone was so anxious to get out and operate, they forgot to
pack a hat and some sunblock, and as a result, I now proudly wear (ouch) my
proof of my four hour endeavor this weekend.
I knew that there was something to this QRP business, but never experienced it
until the QRP To The Field contest.

The proof is in the pudding. Single operator in the field (x3). 17 contacts. 14
states. "__OST T_WN" for 600 bonus points. Total of 1314 points. Nothing to
brag about. Overall, a great way to break in a new station and have some fun.
